SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination

Introduction to SSC CGL

SSC CGL exam is the most reputed exam conducted by SSC for recruitment to different posts for which Graduation from a recognized University is the minimum Educational Qualification. The Examination will comprise of two Tiers of Written Objective Type examination followed by Computer Proficiency Test/ Interview/Skill test, wherever applicable as per the Scheme of Examination and a descriptive/on-line test of qualifying nature for candidates shortlisted for interview/skill test /document verification.

Posts have been placed in two groups, inter-alia, based on their Grade Pay and papers in Tier II examination/Interview. Preference for Posts, is to be indicated in the application. Candidates are requested to note that preference for Posts once exercised will be final. Request for change of preference will not be considered under any circumstance.

SSC-CGL EXAM Eligibility

Essential Qualifications :

Posts Required Qualification
All other Posts Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent
Compiler Bachelor's Degree from any recognized University with Economics
OR Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject
Statistical Investigator Grade – II Bachelor's Degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects
OR
Bachelor's Degree with Mathematics( with Statistics as a papers studied in one year/two years/all three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects
OR
Bachelor's Degree with Economics ( with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects
OR
Bachelor's Degree with Commerce (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects

NOTE: For posts of Assistants(CSS), Computer Proficiency has also been prescribed as an Essential Qualification.

Physical Requirements for SSC CGL

Physical Standards/ Test Men
Cycling 8 Kms. In 30 minutes
Height 157.5 cms.(Height relaxable by 5 cms. in the case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled Tribes)
Chest 81 cms. (fully expanded with a minimum expanses of 5 cms.)
Walking 1600 metres in 15 minutes

NOTE : For the post of Sub-Inspector in CBI, Height : 165 cms.

Physical Standards/ Test Women
Cycling 3 Kms. In 25 minutes.
Height 152 cms.(Height relaxable by 2.5 cms. & Weight by 2 Kgs. for Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese and Members of Scheduled Tribes)
Weight 48 Kgs.(Weight relaxable by 2 Kgs. for Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese and Members of Scheduled Tribes)
Walking 1 Km. in 20 minutes.

NOTE : For the post of Sub-Inspector in CBI, Height : 150 cms.

Scheme of the Exam

The whole selection procedure is divided into three Tiers (Phase).

Tier 1:

Written examination - 200 marks - 2 hours (2 hours 40 mins for VH students)

NOTE I: Paper-I & II are compulsory for all the categories of posts .Paper-III is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Statistical Investigator Gr.II & Compiler.

Tier 3:

Personality Test cum Interview/Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/Document Verification & Descriptive/on-line test of qualifying nature.

NOTE: Candidates are requested to note that preference for Posts once exercised will be final. Request for change of preference will not be considered under any circumstance. For the post of Assistant in CSS, candidate shall have not more than three attempts unless covered by any of the exceptions notified by Government of India.
